REFERENCE SECTIONS and KEY LOCALITIES of the PALEOGENE STAGES and DISCUSSION ON the C-T, P-E and E-O BOUNDARIES by the VERY SHALLOW-SHALLOW WATER FORAMINIFERA in TURKEY 2015
The reference sections and key localities of the Paleogene stages (Danian-Chattian) deposited various localities of Turkey, particularly from the Black sea region, central, northern and eastern Turkey are introduced. They have been chosen from the numerous lithologic successions in the very shallow-shallow water marine environment by the larger benthic foraminiferal content, accessibility and completeness. In addition, the selected reference sections as regards the Cretaceous-Tertiary (C-T), Paleocene-Eocene (P-E) and Eocene-Oligocene boundaries in the very shallow-shallow water environments are discussed. On this occasions, the rarely occurred very shallow water laffittenid, fabularid alveolinid, and soritid foraminiferal species that play important biostratigraphic roles in the recognizing of the C-T, P-E and E-0 boundaries are described and figured. Furthermore, the characteristic species in the reference sections and key localities are only figured and some remarks on the problematic foraminiferal taxons are made in the taxonomic notes.
